PORTLAND GRID PROJECT
I was invited to join the Portland Grid Project, in August of 2007. Essentially the Grid Project is a visual mapping of Portland. Each month, the photographers, are given a portion of the Portland map divided into squares one and a half miles on each side. Subject matter varies widely from one photographer to the next. There aren’t any specific rules, except to photograph within the boundaries of the grid. The Grid Project is in it’s second round, the first round of the project took place between 1996-2005.
For myself, photographing the grid is a monthly visual exercise. Plain and simple, it gives me a reason to just take pictures for pleasure.
