MANIPULATION
The work shown here was created the early part of my career-part undergrad, grad school, and shortly thereafter. The work allowed me to take the presentation and process beyond what many define as “traditional photography”. The majority of the pieces utilized a combination of chromogenic (color) prints and liquid light on tin. Used as a photographic emulsion, liquid light allows you to treat materials—such as metal or tin—as photographic surfaces. Liquid light helped me to form stories with my pieces while still working within the parameters of photography. With this work, I was acting as a photo-storyteller, combining images and/or words to tell my story. Here, the photograph punctuates the piece, acting as the foundation for the viewer’s interpretation of the work.
